EFL University is located next to Arts College, Osmania University, Hyderabad. It offers foreign languages courses. EFL University got provisional recognition from DEC in 2007 - 08 for conducting distance education courses.
CIEFL (now EFL University) was one of the first institutions in the country to start distance mode education. The English and Foreign Languages University was established by an Act of the Indian Parliament on 3 August 2007. EFL University is devoted exclusively to the study of English and foreign languages.
Courses - EFL University offers two teacher-training programmes - (1) Post-Graduate Certificate in the Teaching of English (PGCTE) and (2) Post-Graduate Diploma in the Teaching of English (PGDTE). EFL University also offers an MA programme in English through the distance mode.
Methodology - Self-instructional materials are provided for the PGCTE and PGDTE programmes. Materials for the research programmes are custom-made to suit the needs of the researchers. All the programmes also have internal assessment, which is based on the assignments students are required to do during the programme. They vary from programme to programme.
Study Centres - Contact programmes are conducted for all the distance mode programmes at Hyderabad and sometimes at other places too within India. Research scholars have to attend contact programmes both during coursework and during thesis writing. Besides Hyderabad, the EFL University has two other campuses, one in Lucknow, and the other in Shillong.
Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit of qualifying exam.
Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from University or Centres or Website. Course fee is paid in form of demand draft in favour of Registrar, EFL University.
