Guru Nanak Dev University Distance Education Brief Information

CDE GNDU is located in Amritsar. It offers UG, PG, Certificate, PG Diploma and Diploma courses. University got provisional recognition from DEC in 2007 - 08 for conducting distance education courses.

The Guru Nanak Dev University started its distance education programme with the approval of DEC from the session 2002-2003.

Courses - University offers courses in Science (B.Sc & M.Sc), Arts (B.A & M.A), Commerce (B.Com) , Vocational (Diploma, Certificate & PG Diploma) and Professional (BBA, BCA, B.Lib, BJMC and LLB Academic) through distance learning. Degree/ Certificate awarded under these programmes shall have a mention of the ‘Distance Education’ mode.

Methodology - Under Academic activities students are provided contact classes in number of Associate Institutes. They have been setup for students because classroom teaching is an integral part of distance learning provided by University.

Study Centres - It has Associate Institutes in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Ludhiana, Gobindgarh, Faridkot, Ferozepur, Bathinda, Hoshiarpur and New Delhi. Personal Contact Programmes are held in these centres.

Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit of qualifying exam and entrance for professional courses conducted in Associate Institutes.

Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from University or Associate Institute. Associate Institutes are responsible for admission and collection of fees from the students and the timely remittance to the University. If all dues of a candidate are not cleared by the prescribed dates , his/her candidature for final examination shall stand automatically cancelled. Associate Institute can provide admission only for that course for which it has been authorised by Centre for Distance Education, Guru Nanak Dev University.
