Kakatiya University is located at Warangal. It offers UG, PG, Doctorate, Certificate, PG Diploma and Diploma courses. Kakatiya University got provisional recognition from DEC in 2007 - 08 for conducting distance education courses.

Kakatiya University originally established as a post-graduate college in 1967 with 4 departments has grown enormously extending its jurisdiction to cover districts of Telengana region of Andhra Pradesh. The School of Distance Learning & Continuing Education (SDLCE) was established in the year 1988. The SDLCE has been recognized as a Nodal Agency for undertaking Training and Research in the field of Distance Education with the establishment of Distance Education Quality Support & Training Institute (DEQSTI) with full financial assistance from the Distance Education Council, New Delhi and under its auspices it has organized several programmes.

Courses - The school offers 81 programmes at different levels - Science (M.Sc), Arts (B.A & M.A), Commerce (B.Com & M.Com) , Vocational (Diploma, Certificate & PG Diploma), Doctorate ( M.Phil & PhD) and Professional (B.ed, BCJ, B.Li.Sc, LLM, MBA, MCA & MCJ) through distance learning.


Methodology - Under Academic activities students get class-room teaching and audio-video programmes. The school broadcasts lessons and arranges phone-in-programmes through All India Radio, Warrangal station. It brings out regularly a research journal Kakatiya Journal of Distance Education and a newsletter.


Study Centres - It has 149 study centres in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Personal Contact Programmes are held in these centres. There are seperate study centres for UG and PG courses.


Selection on Merit - There are courses with no entrance test for admission. They are (1) Certificate, (2) Under Graduation (through Intermediate qualification), (3) PG Diploma and (4) PG Courses. Admission into UG/PG/PG Diploma Programmes is open to all the citizens of India. There is no (1) age limit and (2) seat limit, restrictions for registration into any PG and PG Diploma Programme.

Admission (Entrance Exam) - Admission to B.Ed, M.Ed and M.Phil are exclusively meant for In-service Teachers / Lecturers (for M.Phil). Their and BLISc. admission will be made in order of merit secured in the Entrance Examination and as per reservation rules in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions.


Note - (1) Course Material for all PG courses will be issued at a specified counter in the Main Office only. Those who submit the form at the Study Centre will get the material on the first day of the Contact Programme at the Study Centre. (2) No candidate shall be allowed to take admission simultaneously or appear at two different examinations simultaneously conducted by this University or any other university. (3) Candidates admitted into Post-Graduate courses shall complete their course within 6 years and the candidates admitted into P,G, Diploma (One year) course shall complete their course within 3 years from the date of admission failing which their admission stands cancelled. Such candidates shall seek fresh admission again. (4) Students are advised to preserve the acknowledgements / receipts issued by the School for receipt of fees or certificates and also other correspondence till the degree certificate is issued to them finally.


Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from University or Study Centre or Website. Course fee is paid in form of demand draft in favour of Registrar, S.D.L.C.E., Kakatiya University payable at Warangal. DD can be from SBH / SBI / Andhra Bank / Any other Nationalized bank (Full details given in Application Form). Completed form after enclosing documents and draft can be submitted to University or Study Centre.
