Karnataka State Open University is located in Mysore. It offers UG, PG, Certificate, PG Diploma and Diploma courses. KSOU has Regular recognition from DEC from 08/04/2008 to 07/04/2013 for conducting distance education courses.

Karnataka State Open University established on 1st June 1996 vide Karnataka Govt. Notification No. ED 1 UOV 95. The University is authorized by Act to launch academic programmes through collaborative arrangements. Presently 48 partner institutions are offering over 250 different programmes both in the India and abroad. KSOU has launched MBA-Online education from 2010-2011.

Courses - University offers courses in Arts (B.A & M.A), Commerce (B.Com & M.Com) , Vocational (Diploma, Certificate & PG Diploma) and Professional (B.ed, B.Li.Sc, BCA, BBA, M.ed, M.Li.Sc and MBA) through distance learning. Read complete details of KSOU Courses

 

Methodology - Under Academic activities students are provided study material, home assignments and personal contact programmes in Study Centres. For B.A./B.Com. Students, weekend Counseling is arranged at these Study Centres. For M.A / M.Com. (Previous and Final) students, contact programme is held at Bangalore, Davangere, Dharwad, Gulbarga, Mysore, Shimoga and Udipi / Mangalore Centres. For Diploma courses contact programme will be arranged at Mysore only. Gyanavani FM Channel is used to disseminate knowledge and information to the students.

 

Study Centres - University at present has established Regional Centres and Study Centres in various parts of Karnataka State. Information with regard to submission of assignments, examination forms, issue of admission tickets, examination time-table, declaration of results etc., can be obtained from respective Coordinators of the study centres.

 

Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit of qualifying exam. If the admission for any programme is less than 20 students, such programmes will not be offered and the fee paid will be refunded to the candidates.

 

Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from Study Centre or Website. Course fee is paid in form of demand draft in favour of Registrar KSOU payable at Mysore. The application shall be submitted to the Study Centre of the University only where they intend to study. No direct form will be accepted by the University.
