Mahatma Gandhi University is located in West Garo Hills, but has co-ordinating offices in Delhi. Mahatma Gandhi University got DEC Programme-wise Regular Recognition from 2010-11 for conducting IT & Management Programmes, Traditional Programmes, Hotel Management Programmes, Mass Communication, Advertising & Journalism Programmes, VFX, Animation & Multimedia Programmes, Airline, Tourism and Hospitality Management Programmes and Paramedical Programmes through distance education. Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) is established through Meghalaya State legislative Act, 2010 (Meghalaya Act No.6 of 2011), published in the Gazette of Meghalaya vide No.LL (B).138/2010/41. Hence MGU degree are at par for employment in any sector. MGU Online - Mahatma Gandhi University has "learning management system" to provide complete online education facility to the students. This facility is specially designed to impart a platform for students to learn at his/her own pace with a dedicated online mentor, a large group of fellow students, various online resources. It offers following online courses - BBA, MBA, Executive MBA, BCA, MCA, BSc (IT), MSc (IT), Mass Communication, Hospital Administration, BA, MA, BCom and MCom.
Evaluation - Evaluation is based on the following components Attendance, Continuous Assessment and Exams. Candidate need to appear for online tests for Continuous Assessment. The Examinations for Management and I.T Programs are held Twice in a Year. Exams for Professional, Traditional courses would be held once in a year. The Examinations are held at the University Head Quarters and/ or any other Examination Centre(s) created by the University for the same.
Methodology - Under Academic activities students are provided Self learning material, Online Learning management system, Computer based tutorial and Transparent Examination System (Online & On-demand). Candidates can quit a programme before its completion. MGU has flexible (Entry - Exit) system which permits candidate to enroll for a programme and quit after completing the first year. Then complete it later without clearing/ appearing for any course of the previous term.
Delhi Coordinating Offices - It has 2 centres in Delhi. They are (1) North Delhi (2624 Hudson Lines, Near North Campus, Delhi- 110009) and (2) South Delhi (E-77, South Extention Part- I, Delhi- 110049) Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit. After submission of Application form candidate has to appear for MGU-GET, aptitude test (online or offline) followed by GD and Personal Interview. After this process merit list is generated and admission finalized.
Application Procedure - Application form can be filled online (www.mgu.edu.in) or through hard copy form available at the “Mahatma Gandhi University” office. On successful submission of online application the applicant will get a ‘Application ID’ that will be used throughout the admission process. An Applicant can deposit the fees online, cash Deposit at Bank in University Account (PNB / Axis Bank) or through Demand Draft/Pay Order/Cheque from (PNB / Axis Bank) nearest branch. After filling the form and depositing the payment, the applicant shall take the print of online Receipt or offline payment receipt, attach the attested copy of documents and send them to the University at following address - Delhi Co-ordinating office, Mahatma Gandhi University, 2624, Hudson Line, Near North Campus Delhi (INDIA) – 110009.
