DDE, Mother Teresa Women's University is located in Kodaikanal, Dindigul (District). It offers UG, PG, M.Phil, Certificate, PG Diploma and Professional courses. Mother Teresa Women’s University got DEC Programme-wise Regular Recognition from 2010-11 for conducting MCA, MBA, M.Com, M.A, B.A, B.Com, BCA, B.Litt, PGDCA and Certificate Programmes through distance education.

Mother Teresa Women’s University, is one of the few Women’s Universities in India was established in 1984, by the enactment of Tamil Nadu Act, 15. Distance Education in Mother Teresa Women’s University was started in 1988 and it offers job oriented and knowledge building courses to different categories of women with different levels of education. It has three campuses in Kodaikanal, Madurai and Chennai.

Courses - University offers courses in Science (B.Sc & M.Sc), Arts (B.A & M.A), Commerce (B.Com & M.Com) , M.Phil, Vocational (Diploma, Certificate & PG Diploma) and Professional (MBA, MCA, BCA and M.ed) through distance learning.

 

Methodology - Under Academic activities students are provided study material, home assignments, projects, dissertation and contact programmes for theory and practicals.

 

Examination - The examinations will be conducted twice in a year - May/June for Academic year enrolled students and December/January for Calendar year enrolled students. Passing marks for P.G. Courses is 50% in internal & external separately. Application forms for examination will be sent to all eligible students by “The Controller of Examinations, Mother Teresa Women's University, Kodaikanal” directly to the students and Study Centres if enrolled through them.

 

Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit and eligibility of the candidate for that course. After scrutinizing the documents, the Directorate of Distance Education will confirm admission, issue the Identity Card and assign Enrolment Number to the eligible candidates. Students are instructed to keep the Identity Card in safe custody until the end of the course. Study materials and other communications will be sent to the candidates to the address given by them in the application.

Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from University or Study Centre. Course fee is paid State Bank of India Demand Draft for the prescribed fees drawn in favour of "The Registrar, Directorate of Distance Education, Mother Teresa Women’s University", payable at Kodaikanal must be reached the Directorate of Distance Education within 15 days from the date of issue by the bank. Completed form after enclosing all required documents can be submitted to Study Centre or sent by post to "The Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal-624 101 Tamil Nadu".

 

Note - The students have to complete the course (both Theory and Practicals / Projects / Dissertation) within 5 years from the year of completion of period of study, failing which, their registrations will stand automatically cancelled and they have to register a fresh, if they want to continue the course.
