Periyar University Distance Education Brief Information

PRIDE Periyar University is located in Salem. It offers UG, PG, Certificate, PG Diploma and Diploma courses. Periyar University got provisional recognition from DEC in 2007 - 08 for conducting distance education courses.

The Periyar University established Directorate for Distance Education namely, PRIDE from 2001-2002. PRIDE offers need-based academic Programmes by giving professional and vocational orientation to the courses. Presently Dr.G.Kunasekaran is working as Professor Cum Director of the PRIDE.

Courses - University offers courses in Science (B.Sc & M.Sc), Arts (B.A & M.A), Commerce (B.Com & M.Com) , Vocational (Diploma & Certificate), PG Diploma (Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Business Management, CAD, CAM, Computer Application, Hotel Management & Tourism, International Business Guidance & counseling, Journalism & Mass Communication and Telecommunication Management) and Professional (BBA, BCA, B.Li.Sc, MBA, MCA, MSW and M.Li.Sc) through distance learning.

Methodology - Under Academic activities students are provided study material, home assignments and personal contact programmes in its study centres.

Study Centres - It has study centres in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Pondicherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit and eligibility requirement for that course.

Note - The Director of the PRIDE reserves the right to make decisions and alternations in all administrative and technical transactions without prior intimation. The University has the right to wind up any of the courses without assigning any reasons.

Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from University or Study Centre. Completed form after enclosing required documents and demand draft in favour of PRIDE, Periyar University payable at Salem can be submitted to Study Centre or sent to University address by post.
