SCDL is located over 5800 Sq.ft. area in the heart of Pune city. It offers PG, Certificate, PG Diploma and Single subject courses. University got provisional recognition from DEC in 2007 - 08 for conducting distance education courses.

SCDL was born in 1994 as a "Correspondence Section" of Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) for Defence Personnel and their dependents. SCDL has grown exponentially in the last four years attracting students from all states of India and from more than 20 foreign countries. SCDL has become the "preferred education provider" for several companies like IBM, Cognizant, Wipro Spectramind, Sahara Group, Reliance Infostreams, CSC India etc.

Methodology - Under Academic activities students are provided study material, online support, virtual classrooms, home assignments and arranging of personal contact programmes in study centres.

Study Centres - It has study centres in in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Personal Contact Programmes are held in those learning centres.

Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit of qualifying exam and in some through entrance exam.

Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from University or Study Centre or Website. Course fee is paid in form of Demand Draft should be in favour of "The Director, SCDL, Pune" payable at Pune or in cash only at SCDL Office. Students may send by post duly filled Application Forms along with Registration Fee and required documents. If documents required are found satisfactory, as per admission policy, the admission letter, ID card, barcodes along with the exam handbook and welcome kit will be sent to the students.
