The University is located in Chennai. It offers UG, PG, Certificate, PG Diploma and Diploma courses. TNOU has Regular recognition from DEC from 08/04/2008 to 07/04/2013 for conducting distance education courses. Tamil Nadu Open University was established by an Act (No.27 of 2002) of the Legislative Assembly of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Courses - University offers courses in Science (B.Sc & M.Sc), Arts (B.A & M.A), Commerce (B.Com & M.Com) , Vocational (Diploma, Certificate & PG Diploma) and Professional (MBA, MCA, BBA and BCA through distance learning. Methodology - Under Academic activities students are provided study material, home assignments and arranging of personal contact programmes in Learning centres.

Sons College, Coimbatore, (3) S.T Hindu College, Nagercoil, (4) Madurai Institute of Social Science, 9, Alagar Koil Road, Madurai, (5) Sethupathy Government Arts College, Ramanathapuram, (6) Sona College of Technology, Salem, (7) Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose College, Cauvery Nagar, Thiruvarur, (8) St. John’s College, Palayamkottai, (9) National College, Tiruchirapalli, (10) Muthurangam Government Arts College, Vellore and (11) Aringar Anna Government Arts College, Villupuram.
Learning Centres in Other States - TNOU has Learning Centers in (1) Andhra Pradesh (Hyderabad, Tirupathi, Chittoor), (2) Assam (Guwahati), (3) Bihar (Patna), (4) Delhi, (5) Goa, (6) Haryana (Faridabad), (7) Karnataka (Bangalore, Hubli, Tumkur and Bidar), (8) Kerala (Malappuram and Thiruvananthapuram), (9) Maharashtra (Mumbai and Pune), (10) Nagaland (Dimapur), (11) Rajasthan (Jaipur and Alwar), (12) Tripura, (13) Uttar Pradesh (Varanasi) and (14) West Bengal (kolkata). Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit of qualifying exam and entrance for professional courses.
Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from University or Study Centre or Website. Course fee is paid in form of demand draft in favour of Registrar TNOU. Completed form after enclosing documents and draft can be submitted to University or Co ordinating centres.
